Super Bowled by Lady Gaga & Intel drones
2017 Super Bowl 51 Halftime was an awe-inspiring work with 300drones illuminating the sky as Lady Gaga the inimitable artist and performer donning the center-stage.
Lady Gaga opened her act with the rendition of patriotic classics “This Land is your Land” and “God Bless America” with her amazing voice before leaping onto the stage. Definitely pulling the thread further with the addition of “Born This Way” the words gay, straight and bi-lesbian being first for a Super bowl broadcast. Boy, she simply took over the crowd while singing the medley of her hit songs and my all time favorite “Million Reasons”, adoring her for the love to her parents.
For the first time ever, though, technology became the “that’s so cool” moment of a Super Bowl performance. Intel stepped up with the massive fleet of coordinated 300 flying drones in perfect synchronization.
Wowing a crowd of over 160 million people watching the halftime show is no small feat. Despite only taking up a little over a minute of the entire show, the drones immediately caught the crowd’s attention. Each foot-long drone equipped with LED’s capable of displaying over four billion color combinations.
How did Super Bowl manage to have the drone over thousands live crowd, with such strict US Federal Aviation guidelines?
No they didn’t go live. Lady Gaga’s opening segment and drone sequence were filmed in the week prior to the game. FAA regulations forbid drones within a 34.5-mile radius of the NRG Stadium.
All in whole Lady Gaga bowled it superbly at Super Bowl 51 Halftime with Intel.
