Scrumptious Shepherds Pie to try out
There is no love sincerer than the love of food.
Yes Yes!!! you got me right 🙂 I’m a foodie and I enjoy the variety the kitchen can offer. Those who know me, know I love cooking which is occasionally but in style. And I start out with all good intentions, to please ones sight and taste-buds. You could say, a little magic here and there with oodles of love around.
Guess what caught my new interest, the scrumptious Shepherds Pie 🙂 was more than pleased with the final serving, which got me sharing the recipe to try it out yourself. Easy with some veggies in and a perfect combination of minced meat.
Shepherds Pie recipe:
2 tbsp Olive Oil
1/2 kg mince
2 onions finely chopped
5-6 tbsp Tomato puree
Garlic finely chopped
Green chilly finely chopped(optional)
1 tbsp Worcestershire sauce
2 tbsp All purpose flour
1/4 cup Green peas
1 Carrot small cube size
Chicken stock (3/4 cup)
Pepper as per taste
Salt as per taste
Wash the mince and drain excess water.
In a deep frying pan, add olive oil & let the mince get cooked well with the color change happening.
Add finely chopped garlic & onion, saute well.
Optionally add finely chopped green chilly.
Add salt & pepper. Add tomato puree and saute.
Add Worcestershire sauce as per taste & saute.
Sprinkle the meat mixture with all purpose flour, toss to coat.
Add 3/4 cup of chicken stock stir to combine.
Now add green peas & small cube size carrots, cover and allow it to cook.
And then keep aside. This will form the base of the shepherd pie.
For the potato topping:
Boil & Mash 4-5 potatoes.
Add salt & pepper to the mashed potatoes.
Beat 2 egg yolks & add to the potato mash mixture, bind well.
Add generous amount of grated Parmesan cheese to the mixture. (Keep some grated cheese aside for the final finishing)
Preheat oven to 400 degree F.
Add the mince mixture and spread evenly in the baking dish.
Scoop off the potato mash on the top, be generous enough sealing the edges. Not allowing the mince mixture to come on top.
Place the dish in the oven, allowing to bake for 15-20 mins.
Now add the remaining grated cheese on the top & set the top grill on to get a nice golden brown color.
And there your shepherds pie is ready 😉 Let it cool for 10-15 mins before serving.
Enjoy, its all about the love for food.
