Bombay Ducks (Bombil) on the Menu!! :)
On Friday, I got this craving for Bombay Ducks! (yes I get weird cravings). For those of you who don’t know what I’m talking about, Bombay duck isn’t really a duck it’s a fish. You can check out the link to read more about it (A word of caution: Don’t judge the fish by its looks. Its not the best looking fish out there, but its yummy if cooked right). You’d either love it or stay miles away from it, but there’s no doubt, Goans sure can’t resist a good Bombil fry. A good friend of mine visiting Goa fell in love with it when he happened to order this dish. It was the day’s special being served in a shack by Colva Beach, he said the experience was “Heavenly”… and I undoubtedly believe him! 🙂
So, where in this land of Kuwait would you expect to be served Bombay Ducks?? Viva Goa (My favourite stopover if I’m missing Goan food 🙂 !!) It might be best for you to first call them and check if it’s available. Fortunately for me, I had heard that Bombil was on the menu that day and you can bet I was satisfied.
Bombil can be prepared in different ways but if asked my personal opinion, Bombil fry goes well with steamed rice and any fish based gravy…one bite of this took me right back to Goa! Pure Bliss!
