Bhendhyachi Bhajji (Ladyfinger/Okra Vegetable Goan Style)
Only a ladyfinger vegetable fan, when my mom darling prepares it. The usually sticky ladyfinger can easily makes it’s way into one’s hungry stomach when cooked the right way, leaving the sticky feeling way back.
The tasty-healthy ladyfinger and tempting colors makes it a colorful sight to tickle your taste buds. So here’s me sharing the recipe while my mom gets cooking and my camera goes click click click.
15-18 Ladyfinger’s (Bhendi/Okra)
1 big onion
1 big tomato
2 green chilies
8 garlic cloves
1/2 tsp cumin seeds
1/2 tsp turmeric powder
4 binda sol (Amsol)
Salt to taste
Wash and cut the ladyfingers as shown below, not too small neither big.
Chop the onion to medium length and the tomatoes finely lengthwise.
Pour some oil in a hot utensil. Add onion and cook till the onion becomes translucent, then add the tomatoes, the slit green chilies and binda sol.
Roughly ground the garlic cloves with cumin seeds and add the mixture to the saute. Adding turmeric powder and salt to the saute.
Now add the ladyfingers, mix well and cover the utensil with a little water on top.
Letting it cook on low heat. Enjoy the simple healthy Bhendhyachi Bhajji either with hot chapatti or a side vegetable dish.
