Citizens demand special status for Goa at protest
Goa’s movement for special status came alive on Saturday evening as citizens shouting slogans in favour of special status participated in a candlelight procession, making their way from Miramar beach to Panaji church square.
“The government has cheated us on special status. That’s why the youth have come out on the streets. We want special status under Article 371(i) of the Constitution. We want unchecked migration to stop. Jobs should be given to qualified Goans first. We want sale of land to people from other states to stop. Konkani should be made compulsory,” history professor Prajal Sakhardande told TOI.
