What missed – Goa Food & Cultural Festival
Goa Tourism recently organized, Goa Food & Cultural Festival 2016 from the 6th to the 10th April at Campal, Panjim. The festival organizers brought Rock bands like Goa’s Pioneer Rock Band – Bad Blood & One Night Stand from Mumbai, they also had entertainment lined to enthrall the audience throughout the event.
As rightly said, “The road to one’s heart passes through the stomach” the Food festival lived up to the notion. There was an array of delectable food stalls offering some of the scrumptious food for the food lovers, for instance the kebabs corners, grills & food truck were prominent at the festival.
People lined up to catch a bite of their favorite Sorpotel & Sannas, Sausage pulao, Pork ribs, Pork & Beef sandwich, Rava fried seafood like mussels, kingfish & prawns, Chicken Xacuti, Ros omelettes etc. There were wide variety of Indian food like the Mughali Dum briyani, malai kebab, pudina kebab, chicken tandoori etc for those with Indian cuisine taste-buds.
But, what really was missing at this food festival organized by the Goa Government was a simple Goan-fish-curry rice, the traditional thali, the very true to the culture of Goa & Konkan, the solakdi. The simple Goan cuisine was simply missing so also there wasn’t much Goan cultural dance showcased at the festival.
Along side the handicrafts lovers, had some interesting stuff to get their hands on.
Overall a very nice initiative to bring in the community together for the love of food. Hoping the next year, its a well balanced event with platform for Goan talent and more of Goan Cuisine.
