Movie that’s making Goa Proud
The movie that is making everyone dance to the rhythm, Nachom-ia Kumpasar made Goa proud by winning three awards at the Lombardy international film festival held in Milan (30th October-5th November, 2015). This is their 2nd international award, first being the ‘Lebara Play Audience Choice Award’ for best film at London Indian Film Festival 2015.
Back in India, the film’s won awards for best feature film in Konkani, best production design and praises for actress Palomi Ghosh at the 62nd National Film Awards [Link].
Directed by Bradroy Barretto and produced by Goa Folklore Production, the movie has Vijay Maurya and Palomi Ghosh in the lead roles. The cast includes Prince Jacob, John D’Silva, Comedian Natto, Comedian Kenny, Samy Braganza, Roy Menezes, Abdonio, Selwyn Braganza, Mathew Araujo, Meena Leitao, Meenacshi Martins and Roque Lazarus.
The film is a tribute to unsung music and musicians of Goa. We’ve had such amazing, soulful singers and musicians in the past who have gone unnoticed and unrecognized. Hats off to the director for bringing forth all due credits and appreciation. He has indeed struck the right chord.
The movie features 20 famous Konkani songs from the 1960’s that was composed by Chris Perry and performed by Lorna Cordeiro. The vocals for most of the songs in the movie have been sung by a very talented Cielda Pereira.
