Happy Leap Day :)
Hello there… Happy Leap Day!
Yeah the day that makes this year a total of 366 days.
‘Leap Day’ is February 29, which is an extra day added during a Leap Year, making the year 366 days long – and not 365 days, like a common (normal) year. Nearly every 4 years is a Leap Year in our modern Gregorian Calendar. [Wiki]
A person who is born on February 29 may be called a “leapling” or a “leap year baby”. In non-leap years, some leaplings celebrate their birthday on either February 28 or March 1, while others only observe birthdays on the authentic intercalary date, February 29.
Here’s one of my favourites rom-com film based on the leap year…
The 2010 romantic comedy Leap Year, starring Amy Adams, Matthew Goode and Adam Scott, tells the story of an uptight decorator from New York who travels to Ireland to propose to her boyfriend on a Leap day.
An Irish sayings from the movie Leap Year:
“May you never steal, lie, or cheat, but if you must steal, then steal away my sorrows, and if you must lie, lie with me all the nights of my life, and if you must cheat, then please cheat death because I couldn’t live a day without you.” –Old Irish Blessing
