Election results out, but is this best?
The people have decided what they want. The results may be good, not-so good, or simply disappointing. But it’s all out there, the choice is made and the highest vote puller won.
Results of total 40 seats in the Goa Assembly elections 2017 have been declared. The Indian National Congress has swiped the majority of seats followed closely by Bharatiya Janata Party closely. Maharashtrawadi Gomantak Party and Goa forward managed to grab some seats, and we got to see the rise of few independent candidates.
The BJP had some setback, most of the ministers in the BJP-led government have failed to retain their spot. Laxmikant Parsekar (CM of Goa), Dilip Parulekar (Tourism Minister), Ramesh Tawalkar (Sports Minister) Dayanand Mandrekar, Rajendra Arlekar failed to impress the people of their constituencies. Others political giants who didn’t make it to the assembly are, Political supermo Babush Monserrate, Mickky Pacheco, Joaquim Alemao.
The election witnessed the resurrection of the political veterans from Salcete like Churchill Alemao(Benaulim), Digamber Kamat (Margao), Luizinho Falerio (Navelim). The only women candidate’s that got elected were Jennifer Monserrate (Taleigao) & Alina Saldanha (Cortalim). The election results also offered a sweet success for like Jayesh Salgaokar, Wilfred Dsa, Clafasio Dias among others.

AAP suffered a massive setback after the party failed to open it’s account in Goa after claiming for some month’s that they were confident to sweep the assembly in majority. Hope that the AAP’s top committee intercept the poll performance and will review the reasons behind their disappointing failure all around.
Now, what’s left is to see who forms the government in Goa, who will woo the other party to get support to form the majority in Goa. It can be the ‘match-fixing time’ that Goa’s politicians wait for to see who woos them better to change parties or get support for forming the majority. The game might have just begun in Goa. I just hope the elected representative have some ethical responsibility towards their people, the party and in general Goa. Only time will tell…
