How To Choose a TV Wall Mount

You've got a new LCD TV that you're looking to mount on the wall. But how can you know what's the best mount for your purposes? The following article has some things to remember when you are looking for an LCD TV bracket.

Before, every TV and mount manufacturer had separate set ups, so it was a lot more difficult to decide what mount went with your television. Today, everybody has agreed on a basic mounting system which permits people to buy universal TV mounts. This not only saves time and money, but the holes that are pre drilled at the back of the newer TVs make putting them up less problematic than it once was.

Once you get your average universal TV wall mount kit, you'll see a wall plate that goes on the wall and brackets that attach to the back of the TV. The TV wall mounts are designed to fit the holes that have been pre drilled into the back of the TV display.

Remember that even though it is a universal mounting kit in its hardware, there are choices available that you need to look over before purchasing one. As an example, if you want a very clean look, go with the standard, basic mount. A standard TV mount should keep the television within one inch of the wall. However, with this style, you will not be able to tilt the TV in any way so you need to be mindful about where it's mounted on the wall, thinking about where you want the main viewing area to be.

If you're thinking that you may want to modify the TV's angle, then you really should consider a tilt mount. The style is much the same as the standard model, but the TV is fastened further from the wall. This additional space makes is so the display can be adjusted. The tilt's degree is going to vary, depending on the model and manufacturer of the mount.

If you decide on the tilt model you will need to look at the way the wall mount moves. A few wall mounts will be able to be moved with only your hand since it moves on a ratchet system. Other models are going to need a special device to change the TV's angle. If you think you're going to be moving the position of the TV display regularly, it could be worth the added money to look at the ratchet system for ease and convenience of the movement.

If you'd like to be able to move around the room and not sit on the exact same spot of the couch all the time, you may decide on a TV wall mount that permits the television to be moved out from the wall and tilted and adjusted for almost infinite positions. These are called articulating wall mounts.

So, if you're shopping for brackets for your TV, be certain you consider all of the areas the television will be viewed from so you can buy the one that will work the best for your room.
